WOW, it's hard to believe that I haven't posted for nearly two months. It hasn't been due to a lack of efforts related to photography.
During September our local Photography Group decided to make October, 2016 "Photography Month" for our community. Every weekend in October had a special event related to Photography. Many hours were expended for planning and executing each of our 5 events. Participating in Scott Kelby's World Wide Photowalk, Opening of our annual photography exhibit, A day of providing mentoring photography to any and all interested individuals in the community, Having a guest speaker on travel and photography, and last, but, not least holding a Swap, Trade, and Buy Market for photography/computer equipment. All of these events were open and free to the public.
Our biggest event was our 5th Annual Photo Group Exhibit. The theme this year was "All About Texas" We had over 200 guest for the Opening Reception that included a Texas BBQ, and live entertainment. Thanks to our sponsors and many volunteers the exhibit was a huge success.
While all of this was happening, I still had to prepare and print images for four separate regional competitions/exhibits. I'm happy to report that I received two second place and an honorable mention in two of the exhibits and my entry was selected for submission to the worldwide photowalk.
Needless to say it was a busy time, but time well spent in our efforts to promote photography and the visual arts in our community. Now it's time to get back to what I love the most, making photographs.
